Solution is as follows considering that the Value of Coins (in Rs) is 23.40

Let number of Rs.1, 50 paisa and 5 paisa coins be 3x, 5x and 7x respectively ( ∵ Ratio is 3:5: 7)

Now, we know that value (in Rs.) of coins can be calculated as

Value (in Rs.) = Value of one coin × Number of coins

∴ Value of Rs. 1 coin = 1 × 3x = 3x

Value of 50 paise or Rs. 0.50 coins = 0.50 × 5x = 2.50x

Value of 5 paise or Rs. 0.05 coins = 0.05 × 7x = 0.35x

Now, Total Value (in Rs.) given 23.40

∴ Value of Rs.1 coins+Value of Rs. 0.50 Coins+Value of 0.05 coins = 23.40

3x + 2.50x + 0.35x = 23.40

5.85x = 23.40

x = 23.40/5.85

x = 4

∴ Number of Rs.1 coins = 3x = 12

Number of 50 paise coins = 5x = 20

Number of 5 paise coins = 7x = 28
