A bag contains white, black and red balls only. A ball is drawn at random from the bag. If the probability of getting a white ball is 3/10 and that of a black ball is 2/5 then find the probability of getting a red ball. If the bag contains 20 black balls, find the number of white balls and red balls.

P(of red ball)= 1-(3/10+2/5)
= 1-(3+4/10)
= 1-7/10
= 10-7/10
P(of red ball)=3/10
No of black balls=> 20/total no.of balls=2/5
=>50=Total no.of balls
No.of red balls=>
3/10=No.of red balls/50
15=No.of red balls
No.of white balls=>
3/10=No.of white balls/50
15=No.of white balls

Hope it helped..

harsh176: Thanks a lot bro..
Param21: No prob
harsh176: I want the answer for number of white balls and the red balls???
harsh176: You just sent me the half of the answer.
Param21: then use their probability and put it equal to x/no.of balls
Param21: then u will find the answers
harsh176: Can u please send me the answer.
harsh176: I'm totally confused.
Param21: I edited it
harsh176: I too got the answer but I was not sure about it. Anyways Thanks a lot again

GOOD EVENING FRIEND

Probability of getting a red ball is 15/50and the total number of balls in the bag are 50. because          we have to assume that total number of balls in the bag as X. they said that total black balls in the bag are 20.so according to problem probability of taking a black ball is   20/X=2/5 ⇒X=50.then total number of balls in bag are 50.and again they said that probability of getting white ball is 3/10. assume that probability of getting white ball as Y. then probability of taking white ball is  Y/50=3/10⇒Y=15  TOTAL NUMBER OF BALLS IN BAG = NUMBER OF WHITE BALLS +NUMBER OF BLACK BALLS +NUMBER OF RED BALLS

50=15+20+number of red balls

50-35=number of red balls

number of red balls =15

probability of getting a red ball is 15/50

HOPE THIS HELPZ
