Initial = 40 dozens (Given)

Number of rolls sold by noon:

1/2 x 40 = 20 dozens of rolls

Number of rolls remain:

40 - 20 = 20 dozens of rolls

Number of rolls sold between noon and closing time:

80% x 20 = 0.8 x 20 = 16 dozen rolls

Number of rolls remain:

20 - 16 = 4 dozen rolls

Answer: There were 4 dozen rolls remain when the shop closed.

here is your answer OK

bakery opened yesterday with its daily supply of 40 dozen rolls.
Half of the rolls (20 dozen ) were sold by noon and 80 % of the remaining rolls(0.8*20=16 dozen) were sold between noon and closing time.

unsold rolls = 20-16= 4 rolls

1dozen=12,so 40dozen=40*12=480
half(1/2) of the rolls were sold by noon=480/2=240.
80%of remaining rolls were sold between noon and closing time=240*80/100=192
so 240-192=48
number of roll is 48 and then convert to dozen=48/12=4
so answer is 4
