Yes, a balance between plants and animals are essential because without the ecosystem will be imbalanced . Without plants there would be no oxygen and as there are the producers ,it will be very hard for animals and humans to survive. Also, without animals ,plants cannot get carbon dioxide for breathing in for the process of photosynthesis. So, if the number of plants increase they will need more carbon dioxide to breathe in but, if the number of animals increase they will need more food and oxygen.
