As when the ball is dropped from the top of the building , its initial velocity will be zero ,and will keep on increasing every second by magnitude of 9.81 by virtue of the acceleration due to gravity. It starts off from zero and will reach the maximum velocity when it is just above to strike the ground. Hence, the motion is not at all constant, instead accelerated one.
