A ball is moving with velocity 100m/sin the positive x-direction. On applying an external force it starts to move with the same velocity in the positive y-direction. Then find the change in momentum if mass = 5kg

Given :-

Mass of ball = 5 Kg

Velocity of ball in x-direction = Vx = 100 ms-¹ (î)

After applying some external force ball changes its Velocity in y-direction.

Velocity in y-direction = Vy = 100 ms-¹(j).

∆V = Vy - Vx

As we know that,

∆P = m∆V

∆P = 5[(100)j - (100)î]

∆P = 500 Kgms-¹(j) - 500 Kgms-¹(î)
