A ball is projected vertically upwards from the top of a tower 60m high with a velocity of 30m/s. What is the maximum height above the ground level? How long does it take to reach the ground?

the time reach the highest point is

 \frac{30}{9.8}  = 3.06

and the total height is......

60 +   \frac{ {30}^{2} }{2 \times 9.8}  =106

time to hit the ground from the highest point.....

 \sqrt{ \frac{2 \times 106}{9.8} }  = 4.65

so, the total time is (4.65+3.06)= about 7.7 secs.
