A ball is thrown straight upwards with an initial velocity 19.6 ms–1. It was caught at the same distance above the ground from which it was thrown:(i) How high does the ball rise?
(ii) How long does the ball remain in air? (g = 9.8 ms–2)

Explanation:

initial velocity (u)= 19.6 metre per second

time taken (t) =5 second

acceleration due to gravity =9.8 metre per second square

let us assume height of building is (h)

land displacement = ( s) =-h

s= UT+1/2 at square

now solve it
