QUESTION :-

A ball is thrown upwards with a velocity of 20 m/s the acceleration of the ball is 10 m /s² towards the earth . Find the height upto which it will rise?

SOLUTION :-

GIVEN -

  • initial velocity of the ball ( u ) = 20m/s

  • acceleration ( a )  = 10 m/s²

  • final velocity of the ball  ( v ) = 0 m/s

{when a body is thrown upward , the final velocity at its maximum height becomes zero. }

Third Equation of motion

   v²  =  u²  - 2gh

where,

v = final velocity

u = initial velocity

g = acceleration

h = maximum height

putting the given values in the above formula.......

  (0m/s)²  =  (20m/s)² - 2× 10m/s² × h

⇒ 0 m²/s²  =  400m²/s²   - 20m/s² ×  h

⇒  20m/s² × h  =  400m²/s²

⇒  h = 20 m

Therefore,

the maximum height attained by the ball is 20 m.
