A ball is thrown vertically downward from the top of a tower with speed 6 m/s. the ball strikes the ground with speed 25 m/s. Find the time the ball takes to move from the top of the tower to the ground.

given :

initial velocity = 6 m/s

final velocity = 25 m/s

acceleration = g

to find : time taken

solution :

by using 1st eqn of motion

v = u+gt

25 = 6+10t

10t = 19

t = 19/10

t = 1.9 seconds

so, time taken by the ball to reach the ground is 1.9 seconds.
