Answer:

h₂ = 4h₁

Explanation:

Given :-

Speed of first ball = 5 m/s

Speed of second ball = 10 m/s

The both balls attain their max level.

To find :-

Ratio of their heights.

Solution :-

Using the equation of motion,

v² = u² + 2gs

Where,

v - final velocity

u - initial velocity

g - acceleration due to gravity

s - height

Since the balls are thrown from rest, u = 0 m/s

For the first ball,

5² = 0 + 2 × 9.8 × h₁ - (i)

For the second ball,

10² = 0 + 2 × 9.8 × h₂ - (ii)

(0 + 2 × 9.8) gets cancelled

Ratio,

5²/10² = h₁/h₂

25/100 = h₁/h₂

(Cross multiply)

h₂ = 4h₁

Hence, the ratio of their heights is h₂ = 4h₁.
