here we applied formula v=u+at
here v=0
u=30m/s
Acceleration= 10m/s or 9.8m/s
t=?
so
0=30+(-10t)
-10t=-30
t=30/10
which is 3 second
your answer is 3 second

Given:

  • Initial velocity of ball is 30 m/s.
  • Gravity (g) is 10 m/s².

To find:

  • Time taken to reach maximum height?

Calculation:

As the ball is thrown vertically upwards, the final velocity of the ball at max height will be zero.

  • Let the time taken be T :

Applying EQUATIONS OF KINEMATICS:

 \rm \therefore \: v = u + at

 \rm \implies \:0 = u + ( - g)T

 \rm \implies \:g T= u

 \rm \implies \: T= \dfrac{ u }{g}

 \rm \implies \: T= \dfrac{30}{10}

 \rm \implies \: T=3 \: sec

So, time taken to reach max height is 3 seconds.
