A ball is thrown vertically upwards. It returns
6 s later. Calculate : (i) the greatest height
reached by the ball, and (ii) the initial velocity
of the ball. (Take g = 10 m s2)​

Explanation:

u = v - g t

0 = u - 10 x 3

0 = u - 30

u = 30 m/s

s = ut + 1/2 at^2

s = 30 x 3 + 1/2 x -10 x 9

s = 90 - 45

s = 45 m
