Answer:

Explanation:

Centrifugal force:- the apparent force that is felt by an object moving in a curved path that acts outwardly away from the center of rotation

Or

force, arising from the body's inertia, which appears to act on a body moving in a circular path and is directed away from the centre around which the body is moving.

CENTRIFUGAL FORCE:-

→ Every point in the rotating frame has as acceleration towards the centre of rotation.

→ Thus, rotating frame is accelerating frame. In other words it is a non-inertial frame.

→ Therefore, a pseudo force has to be assumed it one wishes to work in this frame.

→ Suppose that a particle of mass m is kept at a distancor from the centre of rotation.

→ The magnitude of pseudo force on it is m V²/R where v is its linear speed.

→ The direction of the pseudo force is away from the centre of rotation. This radially outward force is called centrifugal force.

→ The centripetal force and the centrifugal force do not form action reaction pair.

→ The centrifugal force is a frictionous force and it exists only in a rotating frame.

Examples for centrifugal force:-

A person in a car is thrown outwards when the car negotiates a sharp curve. This is due to centrifugal force acting on it.
