A ball is thrown vertically upwards with a speed of 25m/s. What will be the time taken by the ball when it returns to the ground. (g=10m/s2)

Here,

Initial velocity of the ball = 25m/s

Final Velocity of the ball = 0m/s

Acceleration due to gravity = - 10m/s^2( due to upward direction i.e. acting against the gravity)

Now,

v = u + at

0 = 25 +(- 10) X t

10t = 25

t = 5/2

t = 2.5

The time taken by the ball for upward journey is equal to the time taken for its downward journey.

Therefore, total time taken by the ball for reaching the ground = (2.5 +2.5)secs

= 5secs
