A ball is thrown vertically upwards with an initial velocity of 49 m/s . take g as 9.8m/s square .calculate: (a) the maximum height attained, and (b) the time taken by it before it reaches the ground again.

v=0 u=49m/s g=9.8m/s square


(a) v2=u2+2gs

0=49*49+2*9.8*s

s=49*49/19.6

=122.5m

(b) t=u/g (v=0)

total time = 2u/g = 2*49/9.8 = 10s
