Answer:

As per the question,

initial velocity= 35 m/s

mass = 600 gm = 0.6 kg.

In this type of problem you always have to remember to take the mass of the ball in kg.

Therefore, initial kinetic energy

= 1/2 mv^2

= 1/2* 0.6 * 35* 35

= 367.5 joules.

Whilecalculating potential energy we always need to take a reference where the potential energy is considered to be zero.

Conventionally, if you are taking the difference frame to be the earth we shall considered the ground level to be the reference point where the potential energy is zero.

Therefore initial potential energy

= 0 joules

This answer will be the standard answer required in your assignments.

[But,

if you consider the centre of the earth to be the reference point where the potential energy will be zero, in that case the calculations will become more complicated and you have to take the radius of earth into consideration.]

AnswEr :

  • Initial Velocity = 35 m/s
  • Mass of Ball = 600 gm

As SI Unit of Mass is Kg that's why we will change Mass into Kg.

⋆ Mass = 600 gm = 600/1000 Kg = 6/10 Kg

We know the Formula of Kinetic Energy :

⇒ K.E. = ½ × m × v²

  • Plugging the Values

⇒ K.E. = ½ × 6 / 10 × ( 35 )²

⇒ K.E. = ½ × 6 / 10 × 35 × 35

⇒ K.E. = 3 / 2 × 7 × 35

⇒ K.E. = 735 / 2

K.E. = 367.5 Joule

We know the Formula of Potential Energy :

⇒ P.E. = m × g × h

  • g ( Acceleration due to Gravity ) = 9.8 m/s²
  • h = 0 ; As we take the ground level as reference point.

⇒ P.E. = 6 / 10 × 9.8 × 0

P.E. = 0

Initial Value of Kinetic Energy and Potential Energy is 367.5 Joule and 0 respectively.
