A ball of mass 200gm falls from a height of 5m. What will be it's kinetic energy when it just reaches the ground ? ( g = 10m/s square

ANSWER :

Mass of the ball = 200 gm = 0.2 kg

Height from the ground = 5 m

Acc. due to gravity = 10 m/s^2

Potential Energy = m x g x h

Potential Energy = 0.2 x 10 x 5

Potential Energy = 10 J

Therefore, kinetic energy of the object just before reaching the ground is 10 J.

Explanation : As the object is dropped from a height, the potential energy of the body decreases and kinetic energy increases. So, just before touching the ground all the potential energy of the body gets converted to kinetic energy.
