The temperature of the ball of wool is also 20°C.

A ball of wool has been lying in a room which is at a temperature of 20°C for many hours.

We have to find the temperature of the ball of wool.

Concepts :

  • Heat transfers from system of higher temperature to that of lower temperature untill both systems are at the same temperature.
  • When two objects are of different temperature are placed in contact, after a few hours, heat never transfers from one to another because both are at the same temperature [ equilibrium condition]

Now, It is possible that the initial temperature of wool is more than 20°C but the room's temperature in which it is placed, is 20°C. after few hours, the temperature of the ball of wool is as same as the temperature of the room because both attain equilibrium (there is no further transferred of heat ).

Therefore the temperature of the ball of wool is 20°C.
