a height 3.2 m from the ground a stone is dropped
from the balloon. The time taken by the stone to

Since, from the question we get that the height from which the stone is dropped is 3.2 m and the speed of the ball is 6 m/s. So, according to the equation s=ut +1/2at^2 we will be able to find the time taken by the stone to strike the ground.

Hence, s=ut +1/2at^2, on substituting the values we will get that the height s is given in the question as 3.2m and the acceleration =10 and u=6m/sec. So,  3.2=-6t+1/2(10)t^2  which will be a quadratic equation 5t^2 - 6t - 3.2=0 which on solving we will get the time taken as 1.6 seconds.
