A balloon rises upwards with speed of 10m/s when the balloon is at a ht of 100m above ground a stone is dropped from it. Find the time taken by stone to reach ground?​

Answer: As you may have already studied that when an object is thrown from a moving body than the object has same velocity as that of the body.

Considering that y = 0 at ground so when the object hits the ground the net displacement will be - 100 metres.

u = 10m/s. ; a = -10m/s^2

Now, s = ut + [(at^2)/2]

On putting the respective values and solve the quadratic equation that results

t = [ 1 + √21 ]s

=> t = 5.58s.
