A bar magnet has no marking to indicates its poles? How would you find out near which end is its North Poles located? Give Reason?

shw123: By freely suspending it In air with the help of a string( which has no kinks) and when it rests in a particular direction it is the north south direction.

1) Tie a string in middle part of the bar magnet and suspend it freely

2)The magnet will move a little bit allow it to come at rest

3)The north pole of magnet will face the north direction while the south pole will face the south direction

a magnetic compass always points towards the North South direction so a magnetic compass can be used to determine the polarity of a magnet
