First barrel = 11 litres

Second barrel = 3 litres

water added = x

Form equation and solve for x:

11 + x = 3( 3 + x)

11 + x = 9 + 3x

2x = 2

x = 1 litre

Answer: Linda added 1 litre of water to both barrel.
