The following statements about the currents at X, Y and Z is the current at Y is greater than that at Z.

Explanation:

From the diagram, at Y, there is only one lamp which is parallel to the other two lamps at Z.

According to ohm’s law, V = IR

Here, at Z, the two lamps are in series. So, if the resistance increases, then-current increases as the current flowing through two lamps will be the same.

But at Y, the lamp is parallel to X and Z. Here, the potential is directly proportional to resistance and inversely proportional to resistance.

Therefore, if the resistance decreases, the current flowing through the lamp increases which is greater than Z.
