While lighting a bulb through a battery, the chemical energy of the battery gets converted into the electric energy which further gets converted into light energy along with heat energy. That is why after lighting a bulb for some time, it gets heated up.

One form of energy can be transformed to another form but it cannot be created or destroyed.

Chemical energy Electric energy Light energy + Heat energy

It can only change its form. In the case of an electric bulb, the electrical energy is converted to light and heat. The amount of electrical energy put into a bulb = the amount of light energy (desirable form) plus the heat energy that comes out of the bulb (undesirable form).

When a bulb is connected to a battery, then the chemical energy of the battery is transferred into electrical energy. When the bulb receives this electrical energy, then it converts it into light and heat energy.
