A beaker is 5/7 filled with water . Another 8 litres of water is needed to fill the beaker to its brim . What is the capacity of the beaker ?

Let the capacity of the breaker be x litre, then;
5/7 of x + 10 = x
5x/7 + 10 =x
10 = x-5x/7
10 = 2x/7
x = 70/2
= 35

Hence the capacity of the breaker is 35 litres.
