Let the number of 50 paise coins be x and number of 25 paise coins be y
Given that the man has 50 paise and 25 paise coins worth Rs 5
That is (0.50x + 0.25y) = 5 → (1)
Given that (0.50x = 0.25y)
⇒ 2x = y
Hence equation (1) becomes,
(0.50x + 0.25 × 2x) = 5
⇒ (0.50x + 0.50x) = 5
⇒ x = 5
Hence y = 10
Therefore there are five 25 paise coins and ten 50 paise coins.
