Question :- A bicycle ramp forms a right triangle. one leg is 3 meter longer than the other leg . if a bicycle has to cover 12 meters before it lifts how long is the ramp ?

Solution :-

As , after covering 12 m , the bicycle is left . we can conclude that, 12m is one the longer side of the right Triangle .

Than, as one lef is 3 m longer than the other leg.

So,

→ Length of other side = 12 - 3 = 9m.

Now, using Pythagoras Theorem in Right angle Triangle we get,

→ (Hypotenuse)² = (Perpendicular)² + (Base)²

Putting values Now, we get,

→ (Ramp)² = (9)² + (12)²

→ (Ramp)² = 81 + 144

→ (Ramp)² = 225

→ (Ramp)² = 15 * 15

→ (Ramp)² = (15)²

Square - root both sides now,

→ Ramp = 15m. (Ans.)

Hence, Length of Ramp is 15m.
