body of birds becomes insulator due to presence of feathers and insulating bones but when it rains water makes it body conducter and thus it gates a shock..

A bird sitting on an electric wire doesn't get any electric shock as the body of the bird provides greater resistance to flow of current than the wire does. And as we know that current passes through that medium that provides lesser resistance so the birds do not get electric shock when they sit on electric wire.
But when it rains, the body of birds is in contact with rain water that is an excellent conductor of electric current. At that time, birds get electric shock
