A block of mass 6 kg is lying on a rough horizontal surface. The coefficient of friction between the block and surface is 0.2. A force of 10 N is applied on the block. What is the force of friction acting on thhe block? (g = 10 m/s)

Answer:

fsmax=us×N

=0.2×60

=12N

fsmax>Fapplied

Therefore friction is static and static friction ia equal to the applied force

->So Fs=10N

Explanation:

Maximum frictional force acting =μmg=0.6×1×10=6N

Pseudo force acting on the body =ma=1×5=5N

∵ pseudo force < frictional force

The frictional force acting is only 5N.
