A block of mass m moving at a speed v compresses a spring through a distance x before it's speed is halved. Find the spring constant of the spring​

Answer:

the increase in potential energy of the spring is is equal to the change in kinetic energy of the block.

So, 1/2kx^2=1/2m(v^2-v^2/4) =>kx^2=3/4mv^2

=>x=v/2(√3m/v)
