less dense will float in more dense liquid..

so, relative density of wood will be 2/3 = 0.667

hope am correct !!

Hi there,

====================

A block of wood floats in water with 2/3 of its volume submerged it means 1 / 3rd of it's volume is above in the water.

Let, V is the volume of the object.

and p

be its dencity. so, weight of the object , w = v

p
g

volume of water displaced = v - 1 / 3v = 2 / 3v

Dencity of the water = 1g/cc

weight of water displaced = ( 2/3v ) × 1× g

By, the law of flotation ,

weight of the object = weight of water displaced => v

p
g = 2 / 3 vg

=> p

= 2/3 g/cc

Thus ,the relative dencity of the object is:-
( 2/3 ) /1 = 2/3....i hope it helps
