The total increased rate of the price of the speaker is 40%.

Explanation:

The C.P. of the speaker was $120.

Increased rate was 20%.

∴ The increased amount = $(120×20/100)

                                        = $(6×20/5)

                                        = $(6×4)

                                        = $ 24.

Again the C.P. gets increased by $24.

∴ Total increased rate = $(24+24)

                                    = $ 48

∴ Increased rate = (48/120)×100

                            = (8×100/20)

                           = (2×100/5)

                           = (2×20)

                           = 40%

∴ The total increased rate is 40%.

Given,

Cost of a Bluetooth speaker = $120

The percent by which price rose = 20%

Cost by which it rose again = $24

To find,

Total percentage increase in price for this speaker

Solution,

Let's first calculate how much the price rose for the first time.

It's given that 20% of the price rose.

Let's calculate 20% of $120.

\frac{20}{100}*120 = 24

Cost after 20% rise = 120 + 24 = $144

Later , price rose by $24 ,

So the price now becomes, 144+24 = $ 168

Final price = $168

Let's calculate rthe total percentage increase in price for this speaker,

Change in price = (Price after - Price before) as there is increase in price.

Change in price = 168 - 120 = $48

Profit % = (Change in price/Initial price) x 100

Profit % = \frac{48}{120}*100

= 40%

Hence,  the total percentage increase in price for this speaker is 40%.
