Exothermic reaction : it can be defined as ,it is the chemical reaction that release energy through light or heat .It is the opposite of endothermic reaction . So exo means 'releases' and thermic means 'heat'. In exothermic reaction the temperature increases rapidly in the surroundings .

here are some examples of exothermic reaction :

1.combustion

2. lighting of a candle

3. oxygen and wax for making carbon dioxide , water , heat .

4. burning of coal / coke.
