so for downstream motion:-

(Y+X)8=d ....1 (because both the boat and stream are heading in the

same direction)

so for upstream motion:-

opposite direction)

multiplying equation 1 by 6 and equation 1 by 4

so

New equation 1 will be(48Y+48X=6d).....3

New equation 2 will be(48Y-48X=4d).......4

adding equation 3 and 4
