Speed of boat in still water, x = 6 km/h

Let speed of the stream = y km/h

Downstream speed = (6+y) km/h

Upstream speed =6−y km/h

According to Question

3(Distance6+y)=(Distance6−y)

36+y=16−y

6+y=18−3y

4y=12

y=3

∴ Speed of stream = 3 km/h.
