speed of downstream = (6+v)
In the case of downstream
t1 =40/(6+v)
In the case of upstream
t2 =40/(6-v)
40/(6+v) = 40/(6-v) ×3
1/(6+v) = 3/(6-v)
6-v = 18+3v
6-v-18-3v = 0
12 - 4v = 0
-4v = -12
v = 12/4
v = 3
