The Speed of the boat in still water will be 9 Kmph.

  • Let’s assume speed of the current = x kmph
  • So as per the question the speed of the boat in still water is = 3x kmph
  • Speed of the boat downstream =Speed of the boat+ Speed of the current= 3x+x=4x kmph
  • Speed of the boat upstream = Speed of the boat- Speed of the current =3x−x=2x kmph
  • 24/4x+24/2x=6
  • So, 6/x+12/x=6
  • So, 18/x=6
  • So, x=3
  • speed of the boat in still water =3x=3*3=9 kmph
