★ Given,

● Velocity of boat in still water = 8km/hr

● Velocity of boat w.r.t river =8km/hr =V1

● Velocity of river w.r.t. ground = V2 = 4km/hr

Time taken by boat to go 1 km upstream is 1 hr and 1 km downstream is 1 hr

Now,

Velocity in upstream direction = (8-4)=4kmph

velocity in downstream direction =(8+4)=12kmph

To travrl 8km upstream time taken = 8/4 =2hr

To travel 8km downstream time taken = 8/12 = 2/3hr = 2/3*60= 40min

→ Tota time taken = 2hr 40 min

happy to help !!
