A boat travels 20 miles upstream (against the current) in the same amount of time it takes to travel 30 miles downstream (with the current). If the boat travels 35 miles per hour in still water, what is the speed of the current?

We can Create an equation

Where speed of current will be u

Therefore,

\large{\frac{20}{u-4}}= \large{\frac{30}{u+4}}

\impliesBy Cross Multiplying it

we get it as

20u+80=30u-120

-10u=-200

u=\large{\boxed{\boxed{20ms^{-1}}}}
