Upstream speed =2km/hr Downstream speed=1/(1/6)km/hr=6 km/hr Let speed of stream be x and that of boat be y.. y+x=6......eq1. y-x=2.....eq2. adding eq1 and eq2.... 2y=8.....y=4 km/hr...From eq1 x=6-y....x=2 km/hr To go 5 km in still water, time =5/4=1.25 hr i.e 1 hour and 15 mins
