A body covers first one-third of the distance with a
velocity 10 ms-1 in same direction, the second
one-third with a velocity 20 ms-1 and last one-third
with a velocity of 30 ms-1. The average velocity of
body is
(1) 17.8 ms-1
(2) 16.4 ms-
(3) 18.3 ms-1 (4) 20.2 ms-1

first velocity(v1)=10ms-1

second velocity(v2)=20ms-1

third velocity(v3)=30ms-1

Avg. velocity=v1+v2+v3/3

Avg. velocity=10+20+30/3

Avg. velocity=60/3

Avg. velocity=20ms-1

Take D as total distance

Average velocity = displacement /time

= D/(D/3*10) +(D/3*20)

+(D/3*30)

=180/11

=11.4m/sec
