The centre of mass of both parts taken together lies on the same vertical line.

chesthapahal11: No external force acts on the bodies therefore center of mass will remain in its original direction only i.e. vertically.

It will lie vertically as no external force acts on the 2 masses and therefore there will be no change in direction of center of mass.
