It's is uniform. It becomes non uniform in atmosphere because of air resistance not being the same at everypoint of the object because of the fluidic nature of it. That is even though it's gas technically gases, liquids and every object shows fluidic nature, in soils it's too miniscule to observe. When an object falls, an irregular object, gas around it resists, at some places streaming outwards because of curves etc. This makes the resistance not equal at every point and gives rise to spin which may again change depending of the shape of the object exposed at every moment of the spin.
