a body is moved from a point A to a point B over a rough surface that possesses friction due to which x work is done. The body moves back from B to A on the same surface. Total work done will be what?

We know that,
Work = Force x Displacement
Here, the body is initially moved from points A to B and then back to A. So the displacement is zero.
Hence, Total Work done = 0 J
