The rich gentleman was a kind man who had much sympathy and concern for others. The reformed thief comes back with a gift for the gentleman.Though the gentleman had many sons and daughters, the stranger was very dear to him for his kindness. The gentleman was happy that the thief had also shown the same kindness to other people. The thief proved himself to be a true son because he had spread the message of kindness among the people. As he had passed on the goodwill and kindness he is a true son of the gentleman.

The story revolves around two main characters an old man and a thief. He was generous towards him and forgave him for his crimes. This changed the heart of the thief and made him a better person. Hence why the title of the story A man's true son is justified.
