A body is subjected to a constant force given by
F(N) = -i +2j +3k. What is the work done by this
force in moving the body through a distance of 4m
along the z-axis and then 3m along the y-axis?
(4) 18 J
(2) 12 J
(3) 16 J
(4) Zero

Explanation:

W = FS

= -i +2j +3k × 4 ( along z-axis)

then

W= FS

= -i +2j +3k ×7 (from z to y 4+3)

Answer:

18J.

Explanation:

Since, the fore is given as F = -i +2j +3k so we know that the work done is given as W = F.S where the work is the dot product of two quantities. So, when the distance is 4m along the z-axis then the work will be F.S which will be 4.3 = 12J.

Again, when the distance is 3m along the y axis then the work done will be given as W = F.s or 2*3 which on solving we will get that 6 J. So, the total work done will be 12 + 6 = 18 J.
