A body projected upwards decelerate s due to the force of gravity.

Therefore the equation for getting the distance is :

S=ut-1/2at2

S represents the distance, u represents the initial speed, the the time and a the acceleration due to gravity.

Substituting the values for each initial we have:

S=45×5-(10×0.5^2)/2=225-1.25=223.75m

The distance is 223.75
