A body moves a distance of 6 m towards east and then 8 m towards north calculate the total distance travelled by the body and the let displacement of the body

Let the east direction to be

i^and north direction be j^ .

Thus displacement of the man

S=8 i^+6 j^

So, magnitude of displacement ∣

S ∣= 6 2+8 2 = 100

=10 m
