Answer :

Given -

  • The body moved with uniform velocity of 6 m/s for 3 seconds.
  • Then it change into a uniform acceleration of 4 m/s².

To Find -

  • The Total distance travelled by the body in 11 seconds ?

Solution -

Now, First case :

  • Distance travelled = ?
  • Initial Velocity = 6 m/s
  • Time = 3 seconds

Distance = Speed * Time

⇒ Distance = 6 * 3

⇒ Distance = 18 m

Hence, Distance travelled in 3 seconds is 18 m.

Now, Seconds case :

  • Distance travelled = ?
  • Velocity = 18 m/s
  • Time taken = 11 - 3 = 8 seconds

Kinematical equation : s = ut + ½at²

⇒ s = (6)(8) + ½*4*8²

⇒ s = 48 + 2*64

⇒ s = 48 + 128

⇒ s = 176 m

Hence, Distance travelled in left 8 seconds is 176 m.

Hence, Total distance travelled in 11 seconds = 176 + 18 = 196 m.
